The challenge
Develop a brand identity and content around comic book news publication Discover Comics. In addition, maintain a social media presence for the brand and promote the content. The differential for Discover Comics should be a stronger design-related focus on the stories, characters, and creatives within the industry, which should be reflected in the look and feel of the site itself and not just the articles.

The solution
The development of the brand came from an amalgamation of typical print elements, such as a CMYK color palette, and typefaces that were different than the standard comicraft fonts users typically see in books and on other web publications that cover comics. Secondarily, focus was placed on large, hero images that put the art front and center, and then followed up great written content.

Stickers and buttons were produced to promote the brand, as well as the required social media profiles. Reception for the site was strong, as was indicated by the stats in the first couple weeks. As this was a personal project, it has since been put on indefinite hiatus due to scheduling issues.

Project details
The website was designed in Sketch, prototypes created with Invision, and built on WordPress using existing theme framework with modified PHP and CSS to fit the requirements.
